Paris-based designer, Nik Gundersen signals the reality that AI and New Media producers will dominate the creative industry by 2030. With digital goods and ‘crypto’ currencies having increasing consequence in our lives and the revolutionary AI shift that’s sweeping Hollywood, many are disgruntled. Everyday, it seems we are getting closer to an Orwellian nightmare, but there’s hope in these technology and art shifts.
Gundersen’s singular creations are a symbol for designers and artists to peacefully conquer the commercial mind-space. Long-dominated by propaganda for contaminated products and wicked companies, ad space takes up 30% of our feeds. Does it take up 30% of our brains? How can New Media producers take better care of this mind-space? Build a beautiful and sustainable world from the inside out.

In my conversation with Gundersen, one statement stuck with me. He said, “Digital design isn't about replacing, it's about making what we can't." This is what makes Nik a master conjurer of New Media. In the same sense that a painter transforms a blank canvas into a sublime masterpiece or a carpenter reveals an exquisitely carved chair from a log of wood, a digital designer fills the digital void with wonderful imagination and imagery inachieveable in our physical realm.
“Digital design isn’t about replacing, it’s about making what we can’t.”
Anyone can push out AI generated images but knowing how to layer technologies, produce animations, create a narrative, all while having excellent taste is a rare trait. Designers, artists, content creators: the New Media revolution is ours! The sublime will rise to the top and the GPTrash will filter itself out. Enjoy Nik Gundersen’s work below:
