International Renegade Launches Movement, “I LOVE UKNY” to Bridge Cultures.
Alek Naim, founder of I LOVE UKNY is taking globalism literally. In a time when global politics are becoming increasingly volatile, Naim aims to bridge cultures on the basis of artistic practices and creative expression. Abandoning typical political narratives of our hollow democracy, Naim is direct about his multi-national and multi-industry vision as an artist, designer, and entrepreneur, plainly stating, “True globalization is the future of art.”

The movement is UKNY: producing events and content that bridge London and NYC. It’s a bit perplexing to see such nationalistic imagery combined to create a symbol of globalization. There’s almost a touch of aesthetic nostalgia for the world wars of the 20th century. Naim is responsible for transforming these collective memories into a vision with creators, not politicians, at the helm.

“Through spending much time with emerging artists in the underground London scene, it is clear that they are hungry and have much to offer the world. Before I would say the UK and US were quite separate worlds (except when it came to major artists), but as connecting has become more accessible people have started to realize the potential there is to bring together cultures. With this plethora of talent existing, the UK underground scene is ready to take itself to new heights… [and] it's not just London.”
Expansion through constant collaboration is an essential element of Naim’s practice. This means he’s doing three times as much shit as anyone at any time and he’s always on the move. Designing clothes, directing videos, and executing post-production with an original style. He won’t rub it in anyone’s face, though. One just feels the wave and hops on. There’s a tide rising in London and New York simultaneously.
The next UKNY event is happening July 22, 2023 in London. Get Tickets.
